Now all this sounds pretty hokey I'm sure - but in education, there is still a formality and respect for a person's position. Q. I find it rather sad that teachers with more qualifications and a better education are getting paid similar wages than those with less qualifications. Currently in our district a teacher gets an extra 900 bucks a year if they have a masters degree. I also find it disturbing that a first year physics teacher and a first year elementary educator get paid the same wage. My idea is this the minimum salary for a teacher with a masters degree 40k bachleors start at 35k. Also make the starting salary higher depending on their qualifications. Like a HS sceince teacher should get paid more than a teacher in the 4th grade. Market Demand. There are more Elemetary ed teachers on the market than say physics and Math teachers. High school teachers specialize in one area, they teach that same lesson (for the most part) all day. Elementary teachers must teach all subjects, be a caretaker and nurse in some instances.
