Q. How are confucianism, daoism, and buddhism complementary to each other?
Asked by caitlinaliceinwonderland - Sat May 2 18:23:25 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The big three monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - are based on prophets. (The Muslims revere Moses and Jesus, although they consider Muhammad to be the greatest of all the three.) These prophets didn't have to be wise, necessarily, since God told them what to say, or, in Jesus' case, He was God. They WERE wise, no doubt, but the credit goes to God, not them, if you are a believer. Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism are based on the teachings of wise men, who did not claim to receive their knowledge from God. When I'm in a puckish mood I say those three are "non-prophet" organizations, a pun on "non-profit". They are complimentary in that you can follow all three if you like, the way you can enjoy several authors… [cont.]

A. Read some of the quotes of Confucius and start to put them together in your mind. The morality builds in you as you become enlightened. There is not a separate chapter of ethics to read. You are a collection of experiences that develops as you live. Some ways are harder to live than others.

A. the concept that the 'self' is guiding: - confucianism is about making people more educated so they themselves can make better choices. - buddhism is about controlling onesselves emotions to prevent negativity from entering the world. - central concepts in taoism are power, virtue and integrity. counter to the western phylosophies where faith is mostly about submission to god and submission to the rules layed down by god.

Q. i need help for homework please help me?
Asked by JeremyF - Mon Mar 22 18:41:36 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Across the Spice Road. However, it remained fairly stationary in China. There isn't much of it elsewhere, save maybe India. [to the persons above] They're all Chinese philosophies, naturally they would be in China, and I can't think of anything doing with legalism in the Americas. I don't think you read the sources correctly, not that the book itself is wholly wrong, but Confucianism and Legalism (legalism pretty much died out though) are as traditional as the Chinese could get, since they were made in China. Buddhism was, in fact, rejected initially because it was nontraditional.

A. The nature of God in Hindu is the Divine power and enlightenment that we all must strive to achieve. In Buddhism, its Quiet the mind to see and become divine in the mind of God. In Confucianism and Taoism, the Tao is "the Way" and the Spirit of the Tao is the ultimate source for all life. The goal is to live in such a way that you are in complete harmony with nature and the Tao.

A. When the great Ch'an master Hui-hai was asked if Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism were separate teachings, his insightful reply was: Employed by men of great capacity they are the same. As understood by men of limited intellect, they differ. All of them spring forth from the functioning of the one self-nature whether a man remains deluded or gains illumination depends upon himself, not upon differences or similarity of doctrine (Dalia 1987: 150).

A. Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism have upheld the Chinese cultural tradition and moral standard for the last few thousand years. The Chinese Communist regime destroyed the belief of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism during the Great Cultural Revolution. The negative impact was too great to miss from human right violation to poisonous milk formula. See Chapter 5 in the ninecommentaries.com. In the modern times, the Chinese Communist regime is persecuting Tibetan monks, Buddhists, and Falun Gong practitioners. The worst human right abuse is the harvesting of organs from live Falun Gong practitioners. The Chinese Communist regime has state sanctioned temples and churches for Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Catholicism, and… [cont.]

A. Profoundly. Both emphasize living in harmony with nature, and you can see this in the harmonious composition of Chinese art and the fact that the subject matter is overwhelmingly landscapes. The insignificance of the individual is demonstrated by their absence from many paintings and their tiny size in the paintings where people are shown.

A. Taoism preceded Confucianism and was the precursor to most of Confucius personal beliefs and he was in fact a student of Lao. I have no Idea what legalism is as regards these two men since Chinese legalism was over a thousand years later and more a social code that a religious practice. It was one of the four codes which did include Taoist and Confucianism at that time, but that is the only connection.
